OUR PROCESS

OUR PROCESS

Slide SUMMER SPRING WINTER AUTUMN Growing Season Dormant Pruning Barrels & Bottles Harvest After much sampling and tweaking, the wine waits in barrels to be bottled, labeled, and finally enjoyed in front of a lovely fire. The vines store their energy in their roots and wait for spring. In summer, we’re on guard against anything that might hurt the sweet, tiny little grapes that begin to grow. From birds to fungus to just plain too much shade, we prune and net and treat our vines all summer. The beginning of the wine year starts as nature comes back to life. Close to the end of February, we hand prune our vines and then watch the buds swell, which eventually burst into beautiful green leafy vines. Every day in September we’re waiting for the perfect moment to harvest our grapes. Harvest is the big celebration of the year, and then it’s a mad scramble to get the grapes through crushing and fermentation into barrels.
